Free Voltage drop across each resistor when the circuit contains two resistors - ammeter Animation

4 KB

Voltage drop across each resistor when the circuit contains two resistors The circuit diagram below shows two resistors in series connected to a 12 V battery. You know that the value of resistor \\(R_1\\) is 5 Ω, and you then use the ammeter to measure the current in the circuit, which you find to be 1.6 A. Therefore from Ohm's Law, the total equivalent resistance of the circuit must be equal to V/I = (12 V)/(1.6 A) = 7.5 Ω.
